A Bronx dog owner whose pitbull viciously attacked a woman Wednesday, biting off her ear, has been charged.

Police say Shannon Ingram faces two counts of reckless endangerment.

Investigators say Althea Woodson had stepped in to protect her grandkids from the dog when it approached them around 3 p.m. at the Eastchester Houses located at 1240 Burke Avenue in Baychester.

Her hand was also badly hurt.

Residents say it's not uncommon to see large dogs roaming around the public housing complex.

"They let them off the leashes like it's free. One day I was coming through here, this man has two  pitbulls right behind us, and the dogs were coming at me," said one resident.

Woodson was taken to a nearby hospital, and has since been released.

The dog was transported into the care of the ASPCA.

Large dogs are banned from public housing,  pitbulls specifically.

NYCHA says it is looking into the attack.
