SAN MARCOS, Texas — San Marcos police have arrested a man accused in a slaying in Virginia.

According to police, they received a call from Virginia Law enforcement searching for Jake Andrew Lewis. He is wanted in connection to a Feb. 17 homicide in Axton, Virginia, and was believed to be in San Marcos.

“By following up on information from many sources, we were able to pinpoint an address for the suspect at The Met Apartments,” San Marcos Police Department Commander Kelly Bomersbach said.

At around 10 p.m. Feb. 20, detectives, with the assistance of a SWAT arrest team, took Lewis into custody. He was armed with a handgun, but was arrested without incident. He is facing charges in Virginia of first-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Hays County Law Enforcement Center pending transfer to Virginia law enforcement.
