GATES N.Y. – The King of Wakanda reigns over the box office, as the film "Black Panther” aims to reach over $200 million over the four-day opening weekend.

Rochester moviegoers followed in on the action at a private movie screening Saturday at the Cinemark Tinseltown USA and Imax in Gates.

Marvel's African-oriented comic book adaptation is set to be the most successful movie ever for a film with a predominantly black cast.

With nearly 240 seats sold out at a private screening, Bear Brown, director of Operations for ‘FEELSAFE V.I.P,’ was excited to host the event. He says that it’s not just a movie, it’s a movement.

“We rented out the smallest theater possible and what ended up happening was the response was insane,” said Brown. “After that, we asked for the biggest theater and sold out in hours. The energy around and throughout the country is very powerful and I’m glad we got to share that in Rochester.”

Rochester’s very own Winston Duke, a 2004 graduate of Brighton High School, even gave a shout out to his teacher on Twitter for encouraging him to start acting following the film’s debut.
