NEW YORK - Disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein is facing a civil rights lawsuit from the state of New York.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says his office will be pursuing a complaint against Weinstein and the company he founded with his brother.

The suit accuses Harvey Weinstein of using his position to create a pattern of sexual misconduct, and says company executives did nothing to protect employees from harassment and intimidation.

The lawsuit could delay or stop the half-billion dollar sale of the Weinstein Company to a group that says it intends to install a mostly female board.

Weinstein's lawyer issued a statement saying his client did not commit any crimes, and that many of the allegations against him are false.
