Runners were definitely looking up when they raced through one of one of the city's most iconic landmarks on Wednesday evening.

More than 200 people from around the world raced up 86 stories in the 41st Annual Empire State Building Run-Up. That's nearly 1,600 steps and a vertical distance of approximately a fifth of a mile.

Once runners crossed the finish line, they took a breather at the famous observation deck.

Australian Suzy Walsham, the reigning women's champion, won the title for sixth consecutive year and extends her record for most wins to nine.

Frank Nicolas Carreno won the men's race. He is the second-ranked pro stair-climber in the world.
