NEW YORK - A court hearing is scheduled Tuesday for the man charged with killing eight people on a Lower Manhattan bike path on Halloween.

Sayfullo Saipov faces multiple charges, including eight counts of murder, 12 counts of attempted murder, and providing support to the Islamic State terror group.

He has pleaded not guilty and remains held without bail.

Last week, lawyers for Saipov said he would be willing to enter a guilty plea if he is spared the death penalty.

Authorities say the 29-year-old drove a rented Home Depot truck into a bike path along the West Side Highway on October 31.

Saipov moved to the U.S. legally in 2010 from Uzbekistan.

Immediately following the attack, President Donald Trump attacked the Diversity Visa Lottery program which allowed Saipov to legally enter the country.
