SOUTH CAROLINA -- Authorities are investigating the death of a teen in a hiking accident in South Carolina.

According to the Chief Deputy Coroner, four people from Florida arrived at Wildcat Falls in Greenville County Friday morning.

The coroner says 18-year-old Jacob Bridges Acker was climbing rocks at the falls when he grabbed onto a crevice of a boulder.

The boulder separated and fell back onto Acker, instantly killing him. It weighed approximately 1000 pounds.

Danger signs were posted near the area where Acker was killed.

According to the coroner's office, the cause of death was blunt force trauma of the head.
