As activists across the boroughs descend on New York city for the 2018 Women's March, some Staten Islanders are making sure their voices are heard.

Community organizations came together in a show of solidarity for women's rights at the St. George Ferry terminal earlier Saturday morning.

Julienne Verdi from the organization 'Move Forward Staten Island' tells NY1 members hope to highlight the many different issues Staten Island women and families face within their communities.

"I'm here to march for the dreamers. I'm here to march for the people that are disenfranchised that feel that they don't have a voice. And I'm also marching in the spirit of Erica Garner who couldn't be here, but god rest her soul," said Jasmine Robinson, one of the marchers.

Marchers headed to Manhattan in true Staten Island style by taking the morning ferry in together.

The march is expected to last into Saturday afternoon.
