SALINA, N.Y. -- The search is over for a driver who fled the scene of a crash on the Thruway Friday morning.

State Police say that the man was taken into custody and charges are pending.

The crash closed the westbound Thruway around 3:30 a.m., between exits 37 and 38 in Liverpool.

State Police and emergency crews responded, and when it was discovered the driver was no longer there, the sheriff's office teamed up with Liverpool Police and firefighters to help out.

No word yet on exactly how the driver was found, but the Thruway was reopened around 4:45 a.m., after a tow truck removed the vehicle from the road.

State Police have not said if anyone else was involved or injured in the crash.
