Officials from the city's housing authority are under fire for mismanagement of several New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) properties.

Agency chair Shola Olatoye and lawmakers met with members of the State Assembly in Albany.

Cameras were not allowed inside, but NY1 has learned the meeting was intense at times.

Brooklyn Assemblyman Charles Barron confronted NYCHA officials about his district.

"I think they lied about them being in compliance," Barron said. "And we have supported the call for her resignation – at least I have in my district — because a young child has been affected by lead paint in my district, and I remember confronting her then about it."

In November, it was recently revealed that NYCHA failed to conduct lead paint inspections four four years, even though officials claimed they had.

Other buildings were without heat in recent months due to boiler failures.

More recently, there have been issues with residents not having heat during the recent freezing weather.

No formal action has been taken, but the State Assembly plans to review statements made during the meeting.

Alotoye met with the members for a little over an hour. They also discussed what kind of additional support the state could provide for NYCHA. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has promised to increase lead paint inspections at the state level.
