MAXTON, N.C. – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the murder of two people including a 9-year-old boy.

The victims told loved ones they were going hunting and never came home.

The man has been identified as 22-year-old Lyn Ardell Bullard. He suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

The child has not been identified.

Their bodies were found near McGirt's Bridge Road and Modest Road near Maxton on Monday.

Deputies say the Ford Ranger the two were in had been burned and dumped in the woods.

Twenty-seven-year-old Walter Locklear has been charged with their murders.

Investigators say they cannot release any information about what lead them to arrest Locklear because it could interfere with their investigation.

Locklear faces two counts of first degree murder and other charges.

Anyone with information concerning the murders should contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 671-3100.
