With all the recent snow in the North Country, it's shaping up to be a great season for skiing and snowboarding.

"The sun's out, it's a little warmer today, we're seeing double digits today which is awesome," said Snow Ridge General Manager Nick Mir.

About 100 people took advantage of the double digit weather at Snow Ridge Ski Resort Wednesday.

"We've had some pretty cold temperatures especially the last few weeks but we've had a good crowd," said Mir.

In fact, staff say this season's weather will be good for business. The resort has already seen 115 inches of snowfall -- that's half of their seasonal average.

"A hundred percent coverage and 100 percent of our trails are open which is definitely a rare occasion anywhere in the Northeast right now," said Mir.

That extra snow means the resort will be making less snow this season, cutting down on costs.

"We're talking thousands of dollars for sure and then on the other side of that when people see snow in their yards they want to come out and ski too," said Mir.

The resort says natural snow makes for ideal conditions and cold temperatures don't keep the crowds away. They say it's unlikely they would close for cold temperatures. They advise to check their website because depending on extreme weather their hours may vary.
