The FDNY says a space heater and a faulty surge protector started an early morning fire in East Harlem.

Flames broke out around 3:20 a.m. inside a building on East 112th Street.

It started on the top floor of the six-story building, and was brought under control just after 4 a.m.

Seven people suffered minor injuries, along with two firefighters.

One was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and another in critical.
