It was a historic day for the long forgotten creator of the Caped Crusader.

Dozens of die-hard Batman fans gathered at the intersection of Grand Concourse and East 192nd Street for the unveiling of 'Bill Finger Way.'

He's the man who teamed up with comic book legend Bob Kane to invent the Gotham City superhero but for decades his name was left out of the credits.

Two years ago DC comics started acknowledging Finger's role in the creation of the iconic comic book, television, and movie figure.

"He didn't get credit for 76 years, so, know that his name is attached we are supporting and celebrating his name in every way that we possibly can," said Athena Finger, Bill Finger's Granddaughter.

It is believed that Finger helped create Batman in Edgar Allan Poe Park and his supporters would like to see a statue of him in the park.
