NEWYORK - Whether it's by road, rail or air, travelers here in the city are not alone this holiday season.

AAA says it's going to be the busiest Thanksgiving since 2005.

The Port Authority says about 3.4 million people will use its bridges, tunnels, airports and PATH system this weekend.

Drivers are also experiencing higher gas prices.

The average for a gallon of gas in the city is $2.68, 35 cents more than last year.

Roadwork is now suspended on New York State thruways to ease traffic over the busy holiday weekend.

It'll be in effect through 6 a.m. Monday.

Nearly 1.6 million travelers are expected to to pass through LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark Liberty Airports.

The rails will also be just as busy.

Amtrak says Thanksgiving is its busiest time of year, with about 750,000 people taking trains to their destinations.
