A Bronx grand jury declines to indict a teenage boy charged in the death of his mother's ex-boyfriend.

"Louis did absolutely nothing wrong," said Carlos Gonzalez, an attorney with the Youth Defense Center. "He did what any normal person would do if they're witnessing their mother being attacked in such a brutal way."

Louis Moux, 18, had been charged with manslaughter after intervening in a domestic dispute between his mother and Stanley Washington, 43, last month.

Prosecutors said Moux put Washington in a deadly chokehold.

But his lawyers said he was defending his mother, and the grand jury agreed.

"He's very happy that justice was done today. He's very happy that he can go on and live his life. That's what he really wanted. This is a young man who's headed to college," said Walter Fields, another attorney with the center. "His prayers, as well as mine, have been answered."

Moux's mother suffered minor injuries in the altercation.
