An 11-year-old girl in the Bronx — who was severely burned when another girl allegedly poured boiling water on her during a sleepover — was released from a local hospital Friday morning.

Jamoneisha Merritt is back home after she spent 12 days in Harlem Hospital. She is recovering from second- and third-degree burns on her face and body.

She was asleep when the boiling water was poured on her August 7. There was an adult in the home at the time.

Jamoneisha's mother, Ebony, thinks the incident was part of the hot water challenge, for which kids and teens do pranks or dares using boiling water and post them on the internet.

The girl who is accused of throwing the water on Jamoneisha was arrested and charged with assault. She is in the family court system.
