A woman is facing charges for allegedly trying to smuggle weapons into a Bronx jail.
The Department of Correction says the 32-year-old tried to bring 10 razor blades, a handcuff key and a sharpened screwdriver into the Vernon C. Bain Center in Hunts Point back on June 22.
Investigators say she was visiting an inmate when officers found the items wrapped in foam inside of her bag. She was arrested on the spot.
They say the inmate she was visiting had already been bailed out at the time.
The DOC says between 2015 and 2016, the number of weapons found by investigators rose by more than 500 percent.
