The man accused of hitting and killing an FDNY EMT with a stolen ambulance is being held without bail.

Jose Gonzalez, 25, was arraigned on charges of murder, manslaughter, and robbery Friday afternoon.

He is scheduled to be back in court next Wednesday.

Gonzalez lives on the same block as 44-year-old Yadira Arroyo, the victim, according to officials.

"She was a great mentor, she was a great friend, she was a great colleague," FDNY EMT Anastasia Rabos said about Arroyo. "She was a very humble person. She was loved by everybody she crossed paths with."

Arroyo's colleagues paid tribute to her Friday. Marchers in the St. Patrick's Day Parade held up a banner with the fallen EMT's name on it.

Bunting was also draped at the station she worked out of.

Friday night, outside the Bronx court where Gonzalez was being arraigned, Arroyo's fellow EMTs chanted her name, demanded justice, and shouted down Gonzalez's defense attorney, Alice Fontier.

"We don't want to hear what you have to say!" one EMT yelled at Fontier during a press conference.

Fontier said Gonzalez is "severely mentally ill." He has a long criminal record and history of violence.

Arroyo's colleagues also offered support for her EMT partner, a 30-year-old woman, who suffered minor injuries but colleagues say is still in shock.

"She's broken apart. I don't expect her to feel any other way. She can't even speak," said Israel Miranda, the president of LOCAL 2507. "Thank God, physically she's not in any trouble right now because, but, psychologically and mentally, this is something she's going to carry around for the rest of her life."

Friends and colleagues say their attention now turns to Arroyo's five children, who are between the ages of seven and 24, and say they will support them, like Arroyo supported her team at Station 26, and patients' lives she saved.

The New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund said they are going to donate $25,000 to Arroyo's family.

The New York Rangers also saluted Arroyo with a moment of silence before Friday night's game.
