As the city investigates the deaths of two toddlers killed by a faulty radiator in the Bronx, a woman who lived in the same apartment reportedly says the same radiator caused problems for her.

Charlene Jackson told the Daily News a valve popped off the radiator, releasing steam and scalding water into the room.

According to the Daily News, she says it happened in August and that it was never fixed after reporting the incident.

On Wednesday, the radiator burst and sent steam into the room where 1-year-old Scylee Ambrose and her 2-year-old sister Ibanez were sleeping. Both girls were severely burned and died at the hospital.

The Hunts Point apartment is part of a landlord-operated homeless shelter called a cluster site. Bronx officials say they want to pass rules to prevent future incidents.

"The city should not be an enabler of greedy, unscrupulous landlords," said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

"They should check those radiators and they should check those valves to check to see the amount of pressure that's coming in," said City Councilman Rafael Salamanca of the Bronx. "It's no longer acceptable just to see if there's heat and hot water in those apartments."

The City Council is expected to hold oversight hearings to address the tragedy.
