Police in the Bronx are investigating a double homicide that happened early Monday morning.

Officers responded to a call about shots fired near East 175th Street and Weeks Avenue around 5:15 a.m.

When they arrived, they found 37-year-old Yajahira Duverge with a gunshot wound to the torso, and 33-year-old Beramy Garcia with gunshot wounds to the head, back and wrist.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. Duverge died at St Barnabas Hospital.

Investigators say they recovered a video showing someone leaving the scene of the crime.

"We have that young lady's husband in the precinct, he's described, we've showed him the video and he says he knows this individual from the neighborhood. So right now, it's right in the midst, we're a couple of hours into this, we think it's going well the investigation, we'll find out what happened," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Police say they found a gun on top of the tire of a car parked near the location of the shooting.

The victims did know each other, but investigators don't believe they were romantically involved.
