NY1 Bronx reporter Erin Clarke was honored Thursday night by the African Advisory Council.

Erin received the "Women Leaders in Media Award" at the first African Women Celebration.

She was chosen for her work and contributions in uplifting the African community.

"I got the award but I'm thankful that the African community has opened up to me and allowed me to tell their stories to allow me to dig a little bit deeper," said Clarke. "It's a big thing that they're able to trust me and they're able to call me when something important goes on and allow me to tell their stories, so that's what I'm really thankful for and I appreciate it."

The ceremony was held at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
