Food trucks and carts around the city will soon get letter grades.

The Health Department published rules for the new system, which will launch for mobile food vendors in December.

All 5,500 authorized vendors in the city will be given an 'A', B' or 'C' grade based on food safety inspections.

The department will use a location sharing device to track down the carts and trucks when they're due for inspection. That information will only be visible to Health Department staffers, and the data will be deleted within 24 hours.

The Health Department says it will take two years for all vendors to be graded.
