ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A local swim coach is facing federal child coercion and child enticement charges for trying to engage in sexual activity with an undercover investigator posing as a 16-year-old girl.

Matthew Lincoln, 38 of Henrietta, was arraigned in federal court Friday morning.

Lincoln was the head swim coach and program director of the Golden Comets Swim Club. He allegedly sent naked photos and tried to meet who he thought was an underage girl, but was actually a Brighton police officer.

Federal investigators say there may be more potential victims of Lincoln who authorities say has worked with young children for years through very swim programs.

Authorities say this investigation started with an 11-year-old girl who showed her dad inappropriate text messages from Lincoln. Her dad called police and that’s when an undercover investigator posed as a 16-year-old girl and began texting Lincoln.

Federal prosecutors say Lincoln sent naked photos to the undercover agent, texted graphic sexual descriptions and arranged to meet up with her, even buying a teddy bear and chocolates. Instead he was met by Brighton police and arrested Thursday at a diner in Brighton.

He admitted to police that he sent the naked photos.

Lincoln has been fired by the swim club.

He was arraigned Thursday morning and remains in custody. He's scheduled to return to court next Thursday.

Authorities are encouraging parents to speak to their children and if they have any concerns to please call 911 or reach out to Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
