After a wave of heat and humidity, a line of strong thunderstorms passed through the city Monday evening, bringing heavy rain, downed trees and flooding.
The National Weather Service had issued both a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and a Flash Flood Warning for the five boroughs.
LIRR had to suspended service in certain parts due to downed trees and signal problems and police temporarily closed access into Penn Station.
NY1 received multiple reports of flooded city streets and lightning strikes.
