A high pressure system over the region gave the Big Apple another bright and beautiful day on Sunday, and temperatures reached the 80s for the second straight day. It was also the second straight day in which no rainfall was recorded in Central Park; Before that, Central Park saw a streak of 9 days with measurable rainfall.

We could see a few peeks of sun Monday morning, but, clouds are expected to increase towards the noon hour as the remnants of Florence begin to push into the area. However, it is important to remember, that even though we will experience the effects of a former hurricane, it will be the remnants of that hurricane. We will NOT see any of the extreme rain, destructive winds, and catastrophic flooding that the Carolinas experienced.

The bulk of Florence's moisture is expected to move through the area on Tuesday. The rain will likely only be intermittent during the morning hours, but, some heavier rain is possible during the afternoon and evening, and a few thunderstorms could develop as well. Rainfall totals between 0.75" and 1.5" are likely in a number of areas, and a few locations could see higher amounts. Those that get the higher amounts could see minor-to-moderate street flooding. The winds are not expected to be a major issue, as winds should remain below 30mph.

Look for brighter and drier conditions Wednesday through Friday.
