New Yorkers saw intervals of sun and clouds throughout day on Sunday, and it was another seasonably warm day as temperatures reached the low 80s. A stationary front continued to lurk nearby, but, all wet weather stayed to the south and west of the five boroughs.

Skies will stay on the bright side for the next few days, but, conditions will be turning hotter and more humid. There is also a chance that we could see yet another heat wave, as temperatures will flirt with 90 through Thursday.

The heat is expected to be at its peak between Tuesday and Wednesday, and heat index values near 100 degrees are possible. Heat advisories are already in effect throughout the area, and air quality alerts could be issued as well. During this period of intense heat, be sure to take it slow, get into an air-conditioned building, keep hydrated, and check on family members, neighbors, and pets.
