Sunday began on a gray and damp note in the Big Apple, but, skies did brighten later in the day and temperatures reached the 80s for the fifth straight day.

Hotter and more humid conditions are in store for Monday. In fact, a Heat Advisory will go into effect beginning at noon and stay in place through 6 PM on Tuesday. During that time, heat index values in excess of 95 degrees are possible, so, be sure to take it slow, get into an air-conditioned building, keep hydrated, and check on family members, neighbors, and pets.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to drop back to more seasonable levels during the second half of the week, and it will be noticeably less humid as well. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 80s.
