It was another frigid day in and around the five boroughs on Saturday as a polar air mass lingered over the region. Temperatures were below-normal for the thirteenth straight day, and wind gusts in excess of 30mph dropped wind chills below zero.

More sunshine and cold conditions are in store for Sunday, but, the winds will be noticeably lighter, and it will not be as frigid as it has been recently. Wind chills will still be in the single digits though, so, dressing in multiple layers is recommended.

Another round of wintry weather is expected on Monday, so, keep those shovels and ice scrapers handy. Some light snow or freezing rain is possible Monday afternoon through Monday night, but, it shouldn't be too much of an inconvience as accumulations should remain below an inch.

Beginning on Tuesday, temperatures will be returning to more seasonable levels.  Temperatures will gradually make their way into the upper 30s and low 40s, and we could even see 50 by week's end.
