The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly casting doubt on the potential effectiveness of President Trump's travel ban.

According to the Associated Press, intelligence experts say being a citizen of the seven Muslim-majority countries included in the ban is an "unlikely indicator" of posing a terrorist threat to the U.S.

The AP says it got the information from a draft of a Homeland Security document.

Trump said he issued the travel ban to keep terrorists from entering the country, but the document says few people from those countries carried out attacks.

The ban was struck down by an appeals court earlier this month over concerns it targets people based on their religion.

The White House says it is working on a new version that it thinks will hold up in court.
