Next month's New York Times Travel Show gives attendees a trip around the world in just one weekend. Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

Hoping to tick off one or two destinations from your bucket list in the new year? Or just want to meet your favorite travel peeps? Then the New York Times Travel Show is coming at just the right time.

Usually held in late February or early March, the consumer travel show is taking place much earlier in 2016: the second weekend in January, on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th.

Located at the Jacob Javits Center on the west side of Manhattan, The New York Times Travel Show attracts more than 500 exhibitors from across the globe, with representatives coming from hotels, resorts and spas, as well as airlines, cruise lines and more.

More than 150 travel industry speakers and experts will be on hand, with a lively cross-section of cultural presentations, and for foodies, a culinary stage featuring chefs and your favorite food personalities.

If you are looking for insider travel tips, this is the place to be as you will learn about the top new travel destinations, with many featuring discounts on trips and giveaways.

Among the seminars that will be featured is one that I will be moderating called "Emerging Destinations in the Caribbean." Scheduled for Sunday at 3:45 p.m., it promises to be a lively discussion with panelists from Islands Magazine, CheapCaribbean.com and experts from the  travel trade arena weighing in on their top picks. So if you are dreaming of some island time, bring your flip flops and questions.

Best of all, the first 100 viewers who register with the code "TRAVELVAL" will get free admission to the show. The website is nyttravelshow.com. Hope to see you there!
