The MTA says it failed its riders after another morning of delays affected nearly a dozen subway lines.

The agency's Twitter account tweeted out an apology to riders Tuesday.

The MTA says the signal interlocking system at 34th Street failed, requiring emergency repairs.

Some service shut down completely, while other trains were rerouted.

"This is definitely, I would say, the third most significant delay I've had. But certainly almost every day, delays are par for the course," said one commuter. "Millions of us try and get to work, and I am fortunate enough to work in a place where I am a little late, my boss gives me a little leeway, but I know most people don't have that, and I just find it, it's so inconsiderate, and I feel like everything is slowly coming to a halt."

The MTA has been working on installing a modern signal system as part of its capital plan, which would allow trains to run more frequently.
