The MTA is expected to deliver an update on the Second Avenue Subway later today, but Governor Andrew Cuomo is making a strong push to get the line up and running by the December 31 deadline.

The governor toured the 72nd Street station again Sunday. It was his second visit in three days.

Crews are working to open three new stations and a new transfer on the long-awaited line by the end of the month.

The 72nd and 86th street stations have been plagued by setbacks. But in a radio interview Sunday, Cuomo said the $4.5 billion project can't afford more delays.

"Some people thought we should probably move the deadline. And I said, 'No, we’re going to stick to the deadline, and we’re going to work like hell to make it.' And that’s exactly what we’re doing," Cuomo said.

When the first phase of the Second Avenue Subway opens, the Q train will run along the line from 96th Street to 72nd Street before continuing through Manhattan and Brooklyn on existing tracks.
