A new app aims to keep New Yorkers safe.

The "See Something, Send Something" free mobile app, available to iPhone and Android owners, will allow people to report suspcious activity to the New York State Intelligence Center.

Users can send a picture or written note.

The center will review each report and alert the appropriate law enforcement agency.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says he's not concerned about false tips. He says each report will get screened.

"The people who are receiving the information are trained professionals in the area," Cuomo said. But basically, what you're asking for is an anonymous tip. When you ask for anonymous tips, you very often get false information or information that a person believes is true, but turns out not to be correct."

Cuomo says that the MTA will also hire 46 additional police officers to boost counterterrorism efforts at the the city's largest stations and rail lines.
