The legacy and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were honored Monday at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.

With singing and speeches, people in attendance saw performances from choirs and one from Grammy and Tony winner Jennifer Holiday.

There were also strong messages from Rabbi Rena Kieval and Reverend Craig Robinson.

"Brotherhood is not optional for us," said Dr. Wintley Phipps.  "As Dr. King once said,'we must learn to live together as brothers or we will perish as fools.'"

This year will also mark the 50th anniversary of King's assassination.
