Families of Flight 3407 victims are calling on President Trump to keep the skies safer.

They wrote him a letter asking to uphold stricter safety requirements adopted in 2010 by the FAA and DOT.

The letter was sent days after Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota) announced his efforts to have pilot training hours reduced to 600 hours.  The families worked to have the minimal training hours increased to 1,500 following the crash in February 2009.

On Tuesday, the president tweeted that 2017 was the safest year for air travel, adding that he’s been “very strict” on commercial aviation.”
