Kevin Perry was in court Monday morning for a felony hearing related to the death of his parents.

Perry, 23, of Otsego County is charged with first-degree murder and criminal use of a firearm for the December 12 deaths of his parents, 59-year-old Timothy Perry and 52-year-old Solveige Perry.

They were found dead in their town of Laurens home by a relative.

Following a statewide alert, police said Perry was spotted on the highway. Deputies tried to pull Perry over, but he took off before eventually crashing into a guardrail near Exit 23 on I-88 close to Oneonta.

In court Monday, the judge ruled there is enough evidence to proceed with felony charges and the case is being moved to a grand jury.
