Before the new USS Little Rock is commissioned on Saturday, some of the ship’s crew took the time to visit patients at Oishei Children’s Hospital.

Six sailors visited the hospital Thursday to deliver toys to chronically ill patients. The event, coordinated by the Stone’s Buddies program and Basil Family Dealerships, is part of the U.S. Navy’s community outreach in advance of the commissioning ceremony at Canalside.

"We're here to give back to a community that supports us so much, supports the navy and the military in general,” said DC2 Victor Sanchez, a sailor on the Little Rock. “To show some face and give some uplifting moments to some of the people here."
