Mets closer Jeurys Familia will serve a 15-game suspension without pay for violating Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy.

Commissioner Robert Manfred says Familia acted inappropriately during an incident involving his wife last year, but has no evidence to suggest he assaulted her.

The organization says the 27-year-old has agreed not to appeal the suspension, which starts next Monday on Opening Day.

Familia was arrested last October on a simple assault charge after his wife, Bianca Rivas, made several calls to police saying he was drunk.

Rivas was left with scratches on her chest and a bruise on her right cheek.

Familia pleaded not guilty, and the charge was eventually dismissed after Rivas said he didn't hurt her.
