New York City Football Club held a media day ahead of its first home game of the season this weekend. As NY1's Phil Andrews tells us, the team was a hit with fans in its first year; now it's looking for success on the field.

There's nothing more rewarding than starting your season with a win, which New York City Football Club accomplished last week with a 4-3 victory at Chicago.

However, there is a bit of a concern about that high-scoring result.

"I think as a coach when you score four goals and you concede three, you are happy because you created chances and you managed to score goals, and of course be a little disappointed to concede three goals," NYCFC manager Patrick Vieira said.

"We conceded three goals because I think that we gave the goals away, but even if you don't talk about the three goals that we gave away, we conceded too many chances," Vieira continued.

Vieira, the former French, English Premier League, and Serie A star, is the new manager for New York City, replacing former head coach Jason Kreis.

And Vieira's presence has already sparked a sense of excitement among the players.

"We are happy with the work that we have done in the preseason, in the first game. Obviously, we need to get into the playoffs, and we try day by day in the training," NYCFC captain David Villa said. "Game by game, we try to get better than the last year and to be more competitive."

Villa and Vieira agree that there is some added pressure playing in New York, but it is pressure that they embrace for themselves and their fans.

"I don't think I want to go out and start saying what our goals are right now, and it's definitely to get as many wins as possible and to entertain our crowd," NYCFC midfielder Mix Diskerud said. "We want them to keep on coming back."

"Yeah, the fans are incredible. We all appreciate you guys coming out, how loud you are," midfielder Thomas McNamara said. "It makes playing here in New York so much more special, especially for myself."

"And we're excited to see you guys at the home opener," McNamara continued. "We hope to entertain you and get the three points here."

NYCFC will look to improve their record to 2-0 on the season when they host Toronto on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.
