City council members demanded an apology and answers Wednesday from the NYPD after police forcefully broke up a protest for immigration activist Ravi Ragbir in Lower Manhattan last month. At a contentious hearing at City Hall, police officials insisted that they were not helping federal immigration agents detain Ragbir, but it did little to sway critics on the council.
