AUSTIN, Texas - The Tweeter Laureate of Texas is now a judge on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

President Donald Trump appointed Don Willett to the lifetime position. He was sworn in Tuesday.

He leaves Texas after a 12-year career as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of Texas.

Willett's known for his social media posts, which he says he's toning down as he assumes a federal court position.  The role is one the conservative Republican says he's honored to take.

"My title today has changed from justice to judge, but my task has not. Judging according to the rule of law is a sacred trust," said Willett.

Former Texas Solicitor General James Ho is also heading to the Fifth Circuit.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas will administer his oath of office later this week in Dallas.
