NEW YORK - Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo are not exactly building bridges when it comes to some transit issues.

The two are publicly disagreeing on the necessity of light shows on local bridges and tunnels.

Spans like the Kosciuszko have been lit up in honor of events Mother's Day and Pride Month.

Governor Cuomo says he wants to see more of these.

"We're lighting all the bridges in the New York City harbor with LED lights because they actually save electricity. And they do different colors. And they are all going to be choreographed so the bridges can light to music. It's gonna be a tourist attraction," Cuomo said.

The estimated $216 million to put on the displays would come from an agency which is part of the MTA.

The mayor says New Yorkers would rather have the money go elsewhere.

"I can tell you that people who ride the subway are not interested in a light show. People are interested in getting the trains to run on time," De Blasio said.

The Governor's Office contradicted the mayor's claim in a statement, saying, "The Mayor should know the facts before speaking. The MTA will not pay for the Harbor of Lights Proposal - period. The Mayor should also read the law. New York City owns the subway and is solely responsible for funding its capital plan."
