Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio made a rare joint appearance in a bid to fight the health care bill. NY1's Zack Fink filed the following report.

Although they spoke at the same rally Monday afternoon, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo never actually shared the same stage. However, between the sometimes frenemies and often rivals, there is agreement on one thing: They must unite to fight efforts in Washington to appeal Obamacare.

"This health plan put forth by this Congress will hurt the people of the state of New York, and I am going to do everything I can to fight this health plan," Cuomo said.

Cuomo announced that Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will sue the federal government on behalf of the state of New York should the Affordable Care Act actually be repealed. NY1 asked Schneiderman on what grounds the state could sue.

"You cannot impose an undue burden on a constitutional right," Schneiderman said. "Whether they like it or not, women have a right tio reproductive health services. And if you try to pull this gimmick of defunding prohibited enemies, and the only company or entity in the country that falls in that category is Planned Parenthood in areas where Planned Parenthood is the only abortion services provider that poses an undue burden on a constitutional right."

De Blasio says the law isn't just popular in New York.

"There is a majority of Americans who believe in the Affordable Care Act," de Blasio said.
