In an exclusive interview with NY1 on Thursday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that he will nominate the first openly-gay judge to the state's highest court.

Speaking to NY1 Political Anchor Errol Louis, Cuomo said he will nominate appellate judge Paul Feinman to the state's Court of Appeals.

Cuomo also expressed skepticism that the state legislature will renew Mayor Bill de Blasio's control of city schools, raising the possibility that a decentralized board of education could re-emerge in running the school system.

Cuomo also weighed in on the city's struggling mass-transit system and the crisis at Penn Station, saying he is searching for new solutions to a big transportation problem plaguing the region.
