Mayor Bill de Blasio will shut down a controversial non-profit group that raised and spent millions of dollars pushing his agenda.

A spokesman for "Campaign for One New York" announced Thursday it is no longer raising money and will soon close up shop.

The organization launched at the beginning of the mayor's term in 2014.

NY1 was among those who reported on the ethical questions concerning the group which has been allowed to raise unlimited funds from donors, some of whom have business in the city.

The money paid for consultants, travel, and advertising campaigns in support of some of the mayor's biggest priorities.

De Blasio says the group played a major role in fighting inequality, spreading universal pre-kindergarten and advancing the Mayor's housing program.
