The state is pitching in to help private colleges in the city with projects and repairs.

Earlier this week, Governor Cuomo announced that the state would award more than two dozen schools with a combined $35 million in matching grants.

But there's a catch.

In order to receive the funds, the schools must agree to spend $3 for every $1 of state aid.

The funds will go towards classroom repairs, upgrades to art centers and renovations to science labs.

Schools in the city that will receive a portion of the money include Fordham University, NYU and St. Johns University.
