Wall Street Journal, NY Times: Skelos, Son Could Be Arrested on Corruption Charges as Early as Monday
State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son could reportedly be arrested on corruption charges as early as Monday.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is said to be interested in whether the Republican leader helped steer a contract in Nassau County to an environmental company that hired his son, Adam, as a consultant.
The New York Times and Wall Street Journal are reporting that both men could face charges of conspiracy, extortion and bribery.
Neither Adam Skelos or his attorney have commented publicly on the investigation.
Dean Skelos has previously said he's cooperating with federal authorities. His spokeswoman didn't return a call, nor did Bharara's.
The news comes just about three months after the Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was indicted on corruption charges. Silver has since stepped down. It's unclear whether Skelos will do the same.
