Former Rep. Michael Grimm is trying to leave the country.

Grimm's lawyer filed a motion in federal court asking to modify the former lawmaker's bail so he can pursue a business opportunity in Europe.

The court filing reads, "Mr. Grimm is pursuing an employment opportunity with a company doing business abroad which would require him to travel to Europe for approximately one week in the spring of 2015. He will be unable to meet the responsibilities of this potential employment if his bond is not modified to allow travel during that one-week period."

Grimm’s attorney did not have any comment.

The former congressman pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in December. He is scheduled for sentencing in June.
