ilm and music intersect at the Tribeca Film Festival in a new documentary about R&B star Mary J. Blige. "The London Sessions" premiered Thursday night at the Beacon Theater.

The film documents the making of Blige's latest album, which features her collaborations with several top British artists, including Sam Smith.

Blige says she welcomed the chance to try out a new medium this far into her illustrious career.

"I feel incredible. I feel like I've done something new and different, like I have a whole other voice that I'm speaking with, which is through a film,” says Blige. “And my fans and people get a chance to see me not all dressed up like this, but me, raw, creating and having a great time with all the different artists and producers that are in the film with me, and just how I am - period."

After the film's premiere, Blige treated fans at the Beacon to a live performance of some of her greatest hits.
